What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy makes use of a range of psychological theories in the context of a professional relationship to assist people better understand themselves and overcome challenges faced in their everyday lives. What is mindfulness and meditation?
Mindfulness is the practice of bringing one’s attention to the present moment and can be developed through meditation. Through meditation and mindfulness, individuals develop a heightened awareness of their own thought processes and patterns, learning strategies to overcome the ruminations associated with stress, anxiety and depression. Mindfulness and meditation practice can also enhance sensory awareness, memory and concentration. It enhances one’s attention in the present moment and encourages intentional thinking flowing on to lifestyle changes.
What is Shiatsu?
With its roots in the ancient Chinese traditions of acupressure, Shiatsu is a hands-on form of deep vital energy therapy developed in Japan. Through the application of firm, rhythmic pressure to the body’s energy meridians, Shiatsu improves health by unblocking and rebalancing the body’s vital energy currents. Shiatsu can treat specific health issues or be incorporated into an uplifting holistic massage to maintain health and vitality.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that our "life force" flows through us.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.
